NFL Football: Jackson looks past Palmer's debut: 'This man was on a couch'

Posted October 26, 2011

Coach Hue Jackson saw the same three-pick Carson Palmer we saw on Sunday, and acknowledged there's a rust issue -- but he doesn't regret the eyebrow-raising trade that brought the veteran quarterback to Oakland.

"This man was on a couch and we're playing against the highest level of competition on Sunday," Jackson told KNBR-AM, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. "I think what he did in my opinion was kind of remarkable. ... Like I said, if anyone can do it, he can, and the only guy that can overcome (getting adjusted) -- whether it's gonna be really good or gonna be really bad -- is this guy, Carson Palmer." (MORE>>>)

NFL Football: Palmer will work extra with receivers during the bye

Posted October 25, 2011

Oakland’s biggest two weeks of the season may come without any games being played.  Carson Palmer is about to take a crash course in the Raiders offense.

The team will practice the next two days during the bye week, and then Palmer will work separately with his receivers away from the coaching staff. (MORE>>>)

NFL Football: Palmer's first week with Raiders could be sign of wild ride ahead

Posted October 24, 2011

Following Kyle Boller's second interception in the Raiders' 28-0 loss to Kansas City on Sunday, it was backup quarterback Carson Palmer, wearing a baseball hat and the knowledge that he wasn't supposed to play, who approached the receiver group on the bench. Palmer spent a minute or so picking their brains while Boller stood in another area of the sideline, listening to boos and trying to regroup at what likely was his last starting opportunity ever.

That snapshot encompassed why the Raiders gave up a fortune to bring Palmer to their team (at least one first-round pick and maybe another). Palmer knows what it takes to play the position. (MORE>>>)

NFL Football: Carson Palmer doubtful, source says

Posted October 21, 2011

The expectation within the Oakland Raiders organization that quarterback Carson Palmer would start Sunday against Kansas City has shifted to where two people familiar with the situation now believe it is unlikely that will happen.

No final decision has been made.

"I'm 95 percent sure he is not going to play," one source close to the situation said Friday afternoon. "Practicing Wednesday and Thursday, he felt he's not ready to make those high-velocity throws yet. Maybe they could decide something at the last minute, but I don't think he's going to play." NFL Football: Carson Palmer to start, source says

Posted October 19, 2011

Newly acquired Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, who hasn't played or practiced since last season, is expected to start Sunday's game against Kansas City, a team official told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Palmer shared first-team snaps Wednesday with Kyle Boller, who has been with the Raiders the past two seasons and has a big advantage in terms of knowledge of the offense and chemistry with the receivers. (MORE>>>)

NFL Football: ESPN- Bengals QB Carson Palmer will be traded to Raiders

Posted October 18, 2011

Carson Palmer finally got what he wanted, and the Raiders may have salvaged their promising season.

Palmer, who's sat out the entire 2011 campaign in semi-retirement to date after vowing to never again play for the Bengals, will head to Oakland for a 2012 first-round draft pick and a 2013 selection that could escalate to a first-rounder.

"This deal is done," said ESPN's Chris Mortensen on SportsCenter Tuesday morning. (MORE>>>)

NFL Football: Raiders snag Carson Palmer from Bengals

Posted October 18, 2011

With Jason Campbell on the shelf for several weeks with a collarbone injury, the 4-2 Oakland Raiders pried a disgruntled Carson Palmer out of Cincinnati Tuesday, giving the Bengals a 2012 first-round draft pick and a conditional 2013 pick for the 31-year-old Palmer.

The 2013 selection could climb as high as the first round, as well, and will be based on how well Palmer performs in Oakland.

Palmer demanded a trade this offseason, threatening to retire if Cincinnati didn’t comply. When the Bengals refused to deal him, Palmer simply stayed away — he never formally retired but also did not join Cincinnati for the preseason or any portion of the regular season. (MORE>>>)

NFL Football:Raiders Campbell out- Boller next, or Garrard? Maybe Palmer?

Posted October 17, 2011

The Oakland Raiders were hopeful for a career year out of Jason Campbell. With this being his contract walk year and his second season in Hue Jackson’s system, the stage was set for the passer to establish himself in the league and cement his status in Silver & Black.

That took a turn for the worse this afternoon when Campbell scrambled in the 2nd quarter and was crunched by linebacker Scott Fujita into the turf. He is now expected to miss the remainder of the regular season with a fractured right collarbone injury. (MORE>>>)
